Mirroring Ballarat’s rich history, The Ballarat Mining Exchange was built between 1887-9 and was used for trading of shares in mining companies during the Gold Rush era. Retaining many of the heritage features, the Ballarat Mining Exchange continues to host a multitude of events such as:

The Mining Exchange has many unique features to make any occasion memorable including eighteen alcoves which can be utilised for any occasion, seating which can be configured to suit any event, a fully equipped commercial kitchen and slab floor heating.
CAPACITY
The popularity of the Ballarat Mining Exchange and a wide range of hosted events is a testament to its flexibility. Measuring 39 X 8.5 meters, the main hall has a capacity of 250 seated and 500 standing. The venue also features a breakout space for more intimate functions, celebrations and corporate meetings. This space is 10 x 15 metres and has a capacity of 100 seated, 250 standing.

ACCESSIBILITY INFO
The Ballarat Mining Exchange is wheelchair accessible from the east side of Lydiard Street North footpath via a slight incline (some assistance may be needed).
The Mining Exchange is ground level only.
This card has been developed by the Victorian Network on Recreation and Disability (VICNORD) and allows carers to attend as a complimentary guest.
Wheelchair access is through the front doors.
The accessible toilet is identified as a unisex accessible toilet LH facility & parent room and has both braille and raised tactile lettering on the sign.
There is a single designated accessible parking space located in Lydiard St North approximately 100 metres from the Ballarat Mining Exchange beside Police Lane.
There is a large iron gate and two internal automatic glass doors that provide easy access for wheelchairs.
There is an accessible toilet within the facility.
In addition, four accessible parking spaces can be found near the Regent Cinema on the opposite side of Lydiard St North.
Drop off may be possible in a large loading zone directly in front of the entrance to the Ballarat Mining Exchange, with a steep bitumen ramp (assistance will be needed) up to the footpath.
The taxi drop off area is located on the same side of the street just past the loading zone, towards Sturt St.
There is no fixed seating so wheelchairs can be accommodated easily, along with sufficient circulation room.
